About us

At Caledonia Private Capital, we have a proud tradition of delivering capital and support to private companies to create enduring value.

Focused on investing in UK mid-market companies with equity values in the £50m to £125m range, we partner with profitable businesses led by sound management teams with clear ambitions to grow.

We are part of Caledonia Investments plc, a FTSE 250, self-managed investment trust with net assets of £2.8bn (as at 31 Mar 2023) and a market capitalisation of £1.9bn.

The business started in 1878 as the Clan Line shipping company, founded by Sir Charles Cayzer. Over time, the company’s interests extended into aviation, industrials and financial services. In 1987, the Cayzers’ interest was sold and Caledonia Investments was adopted as the family’s investment vehicle – the family still owns 48% of the shares and remains close to the business.

Caledonia Investments maintains a concentrated portfolio of international investments and funds across the following key pools of capital:

Quoted & Income

Geographical and sector balanced investments in global blue-chip companies with a strong track record of return on capital and dividend yield;

Funds

Investments in private and public equity funds in the US and Asia, providing indirect exposure to geographies and sectors that are hard to access directly; and

Private Capital

Investments in resilient, profitable and ambitious private businesses.

Strategic allocation of pools:

Quoted & Income 30-40%
